The Beautiful Tricks of Flowers

Another interesting Ted talk.

In this visually dazzling talk, Jonathan Drori shows the extraordinary ways flowering plants — over a quarter million species — have evolved to attract insects to spread their pollen: growing ‘landing-strips’ to guide the insects in, shining in ultraviolet, building elaborate traps, and even mimicking other insects in heat.

Warning: There are a couple of instances in this talk that are sexually suggestive.  They don’t add much. A normal adult will find them childish.

Nor do they pose any risk for a child. A child won’t understand them. I think they were added for a theatrical effect. But They should have been left out. Other than that, it’s worth watching.
