Mushrooms and Bee Disease

bees mushroomsUsing natural beekeeping methods can increase honeybee colony vitality, health and resiliency. But achieving those benefits can be expensive in both time and energy. So, they’re not suitable for everyone.

Many commercial beekeepers would fall in that category. They, like their bees, are worked to the maximum. With little time, and thin profit margins, few commercial beekeepers can survive the initial catastrophic colony losses often experienced when going natural.

So, they need a good short term fix for enemy number one, the varroa mite.

Such a fix has eluded the bee industry. Pesticides looked good. But the mites quickly adapt. And pesticides residues contaminate beekeeping equipment affecting colony health.

Maybe mushrooms have the magic ingredient. I hope so.
